Preparation

Local anesthesia or sedation is administered. Eye drops dilate the pupil.

Incision

A small cut is made at the edge of the cornea.

Lens Removal

The cloudy lens is broken up and suctioned out using an ultrasound probe.

Lens Implantation

A clear artificial lens is placed into the lens capsule.

Closure

The incision usually heals on its own. Eye drops and an eye shield may be provided.
